Location and Accommodations
Location
The program will be held at the Penn State University Park campus. The campus is in the center of the state, fifteen miles south of Interstate 80, on Routes 26 and 322 (Directions and maps will be sent to you with your registration materials). US Airways Express, Northwest Airlink, and United Airlines serve the State College/University Park Airport, located three miles from the course site. Rental cars, limousines, and taxi services are available at the airport.
Parking
If you are planning on parking on Penn State University Park campus, you will have to visit one of the kiosk booths or contact a transportation officer to obtain a visitor's parking pass to park at the Earth and Engineering Sciences Building.
Accommodations
Participants are encouraged to stay at The Atherton Hotel because many of the short course activities will take place at that facility.
A limited number of rooms have been set aside for June 2-7. The Atherton Hotel is located one block from the University Park campus, and the hotel offers the appeal of timeless elegance with modern services. The Atherton Hotel offers rooms with double or king size beds, a full service restaurant, lounge, health club facilities, non-smoking rooms, and handicap accessible guest rooms. Please call 1-800-832-0132 to make your room reservation and be sure to specify that you are with the Corrosion Group when making your room reservation to ensure you receive the special rate . Room reservations must be made by May 1, 2013. Also, there are a limited number of rooms available at the government rate (for US government employees).
