College of Engineering Wireless Networking in the EES Building
Available Networks
The College of Engineering provides wireless networking in the Earth and Engineering Sciences Building.
Three virtual networks are available:
- COE
- COE WPA
- PennState
All faculty, researchers, staff and students in the College of Engineering have access to the COE and COE WPA networks, while all Penn State Access Account holders may connect to the PennState network.
The wireless network is 802.11a/b/g compatible, and has a maximum transfer rate of 54mbps.
COE wireless network Access points are placed strategically in the EES Building, and while it is not officially supported, some access is available in certain areas surrounding the building.
Connections Methods
University and College Policies require that all wireless networking must take place over secure (encrypted) connections.
There are two methods of encryption available:
- Virtual Private Network (VPN)

Use the "COE Wireless" profile whithin the EES Building - WiFi Protected Access (WPA—802.11)
