The printers above are available for ESM faculty, staff and students, only, at a small budget charge which covers the cost of maintenance and consumables.

While some printers are networked and available for your use, it is generally simpler to have a technical contact print your document, since there are many nuances and esoteric settings involved.

Please allow one week's notice for posters, large or oversized jobs.

is a Xerox Document WorkCentre 7665—what's that mean? It means all the best features of a high speed copier, network color printer and network color scanner all rolled into one. Instead of printing out a document and running it down to the copier, you can print directly to the 7665. Need a book scanned? The 7665 scans at 60 pages per minute--perfect for Optical Character Recognition.

Winston's scanner works for oversized documents too, with a maximum size of 12 by 18 inches.

Windows 2000/XP (Vista not currently supported)

Requires College of Engineering Domain Account

Open the Start menu
Choose "Run"
Enter \\atriedes and press enter
Double Click on the appropriate Winston icon
Windows will install the software

Only choose the Winston PostScript driver if you have a specific reason to do so

Mac users OS X - use IP printing

Download and install the 7665 printer driver from Xerox
Open the printer utility under Applications:Utilities
Select IP printing
Select Socket/HP Jet Direct
Enter winston.esm.psu.edu for the printer address
When the window closes, select the new printer,
and then select 'Show Info' from the top menu of the 'Printer List'
Choose the following installed options:
- Paper tray options - 6 paper trays
- Finisher/output tray - professional finisher
- Hole punch unit - 2 and 3 hole punch unit
Be sure to choose media type, rather than a number of a tray—
the printer knows where each media type, such as transparencies or pink paper, is stored. Changing paper but not telling the printer about it will cause print jobs to be printed on the wrong kind of paper. This is wasteful and expensive.
Budget charges apply:
- $.03 per B&W plain paper
- $.25 per B&W glossy paper
- $.75 per B&W transparency
- $.20 per Color plain paper
- $.50 per Color glossy paper
- $1.00 per Color transparency

Epson 9800

is a 44" color plotter that prints photo-realistic prints at 1220dpi. Although it is not on the network for direct use, the plotter is available for your large format needs. Please see Bill Ames for assistance.

While the printer can print edge-edge, please design your poster with a minimum 1/2 inch margin to allow for bleed and overprint areas.

Budget charges apply:

$2.50 per foot B&W
$4.50 per foot color, plain paper
$5.00 per foot for gloss/semigloss paper
Other sizes and paper stock, such as 30"x40" poster board are available by special request.
