The ESM department has a wide array of equipment available to assist your document creation, from digital photography and scanning to page layout and document creation.
Please note that these services are for ESM faculty, staff and students only.
Digital Imaging
We have the following equipment available via the technical contacts:
Canon Digital Rebel XTi digital camera
- Images rival 35mm
- 10 mega pixels
- Large storage capacity
- Photography available through Bill Ames
- Image editing, including portrait retouching, removal of lensatic distortion, as well as color correction and other darkroom abilities
Epson 1640U scanner
- Full color (42 bit) flatbed scanning
- Scans slide, negatives and other transparencies
- Up to 1600x3200dpi optical resolution
Xerox Document WorkCenter 7765
- High speed scanning at up to 60 pages per minute
- Black and white, grayscale and color
- Up to 11"x18"
- Optical Character Recognition for PDFs
- Perfect for archiving paper to CD (see tech contacts)
High Capacity Storage
Tech contacts can place your large files on a number of different media, including CD, DVD, Zip, ftp and web pages.
Please allow at least 3 days notice for DVDs. DVD media is $5.00 per 4.7gb disc.

Optical Character Recognition
- Converts printed text into computer editable text
- Faster than typing when original computer files are not available
- Will not read equations, but text is near 100% with laser quality text
