Description: This symposium will address topics in [1] Structural Health Monitoring and [2] Medical Health Monitoring. In [1] presenters will discuss ultrasonic sensors for measuring high temperature, acoustic microscopy for impact damaged fiber reinforced layered composites, NDE of Concrete, Ultrasonic Propagation in Pipes, Acoustic Microscopy for the Evaluation of thin Films and Coatings, and Ultrasonic Pulse Transformers. In [2], the presenters will discuss Acoustic Microscopy of Mammalian Tissue, Effects of Temperature on Cancer Cells, Atomic Force Acoustic Microscopy for the modulus mapping of living biological cells, Effect of laser produced shock waves on simulated skin tissue, acoustic microscpy on thin tissue for the measurement of bulk and shear modulus, and design of a high numerical aperture shear lens. Abstracts in these areas are encouraged.
