Description: In connection with the occasion of Alan Needleman receiving the 2006 SES William Prager Medal, this symposium will bring together an international forum on multiscale modeling of plastic deformation in nano-, micro- and macro- systems. Potential presentation topics include modeling techniques at continuum, discrete dislocation and atomistic levels, multiscale modeling of size effects at micro and nano scales, fracture, fatigue, creep, friction, yield, hardening; grain boundaries, surfaces, interfaces, impact, as well as experimental testing and measurement techniques at multiple length scales.
