Symposium: Numerical Modeling of Damage and Irreversible Phenomena in Composite Materials
Organizers: J. Andreu Mayugo Majo, Universitat de Girona
Ever J. Barbero, West Virginia University

Description: The symposium will provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and strategies on modeling of damage, plasticity, healing, self-healing, and other irreversible phenomena occurring in composite materials. The symposium emphasizes numerical model formulation and validation with the aim of demonstrating robustness and generality of application of formulations. The symposium also encourages presentation of experimental work that elucidates phenomena aided by and/or in the context of theoretical/numerical models to represent such phenomena. Papers presented at the symposium are eligible for publication in a special issue entitled “NUMERICAL MODELING OF DAMAGE AND IRREVERSIBLE PHENOMENA IN COMPOSITE MATERIALS” in the Journal of Mechanics of Advanced Materials and Structures by Taylor and Francis. Authors electing to participate of the special issue will be asked to submit full length papers for peer-review for the Journal.
