Dr. Elena Semouchkina, research associate with the Materials Research Institute, has been appointed as a member of the Engineering Science and Mechanics graduate faculty. Dr. Semouchkina's research is electromagnetic metamaterials and the development of materials integration concepts for electronic and photonic devices.

Dr. Semouchkina earned her doctorate in Materials from Penn State. She received the NSF ADVANCE Fellows Award in 2004.
