ESM Students to Present Research at ASNT Meeting

Jia (Jerry) Hua, Sheng Li, and Cliff Searfass, all Engineering Science and Mechanics doctoral candidates, will present their research at the next meeting of the American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Susquehanna Valley Section which will be held in room 117 Earth-Engineering Sciences on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 7:00 p.m.
Mr. Hua will present "Ultrasonic guided waves in coated pipe with soil influence." His advisor is Joseph Rose. Mr. Li will present “Piezoelectric fiber composite elements of a surface mounted strip comb transducer.” His advisor is Cliff Lissenden. Mr. Searfass will present "Microwave processing of spray-on ferroelectric materials for high temperature (> 500 C) ultrasonic non-destructive evaluation." His advisor is Bernhard R. Tittmann.
Rick Cahill of Sensing & Inspection Technologies, Lewistown who is the ASNT Region 3 Director will preside over the dinner meeting. This meeting is open to all members of ASNT and all Penn State students who have an interest in nondestructive testing and/or nondestructive evaluation of materials.

Cost: for students and faculty there is no charge. For other members and non-members the cost is $10.00.
