ESM Summer Research Experience for Students - 9 years of success

Summer 2004 marked the conclusion of the ninth year of the Engineering Science and Mechanics Department's Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates.
The (non-credit) program provides undergraduate Engineering Science students with the opportunity to be paid to work on current research projects under the supervision of Engineering Science and Mechanics faculty.
Student participants are typically Engineering Science majors who will be graduating in the fall or spring of the following year. Participants apply to the program by mapping out a potential research topic and developing a work plan. A brief written report is required at the conclusion of the program. The program typically runs from mid May to mid August.
During the summer of 2004, seventeen students participated in the project. The names of the participants and their faculty mentors follows below.
