Philip Houck
Dr. Philip Houck, a practicing Cardiologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Texas A&M University, is employed at Scott and White Clinic in Temple, Texas. He is currently director of the heart failure clinic. He is most proud of winning the best clinical physician and teacher award three times and receiving a reward for the best clinical scientist. While in the Penn State Engineering Science program (B.S., 1971), he began research on the Relation of Atmospheric Pressure Changes and the Occurrence of Acute Myocardial Infarction and Stroke.

After graduation from Penn State, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University. He entered the Air Force and worked at the Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory and eventually went to Northwestern University Medical School fully sponsored by the Air Force. He completed internship residency and fellowship at Wilford Hall Medical Center. He is retired from the Air Force and is married to Jean with two children, David and Danelle. Dr. Houck’s interests include teaching, electrical remodeling of the heart, cardiac regeneration, and swimming.
