Barbara Covolus Faust
Barbara Covolus Faust received her B.S. in Engineering Science from Penn State in 1964 and her M.S. in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1967. She is the first woman to graduate with a B.S. in Engineering Science from the Penn State College of Engineering. Mrs. Faust is also the first woman to complete the Space Technology Engineering Program in what was then the General Electric Missile and Space Vehicle Division at Valley Forge, PA. Retired from a career that spanned over 33 years at GE Aerospace, Martin Marietta, and Lockheed Martin; Mrs. Faust now consults for General Sciences, Inc., in Souderton, PA.

Mrs. Faust has served on the Industrial and Professional Advisory Council to the ESM Department and on the Board of Directors for the Penn State Engineering Society. She is a Society of Women Engineers Fellow and a member of the Perkasie Borough Planning Commission.

Her husband Jerry is an aeronautical engineer (Texas A&M). Mrs. Faust has three step-children and six grandchildren. She comes from a Penn State family--her father was a member of the class of 1939; her two brothers, one sister, two nieces, and a nephew all have degrees from Penn State; one nephew is now a senior and another is an incoming freshman. The majority of their degrees are in engineering.

NOTE: Two of our Centennial Fellows are spotlighted each week.
