Ali Kaan Kalkan accepts position at Oklahoma State University

Kaan Kalkan (Ph.D., Engineering Science and Mechanics, Penn State, 2001; M.S., Mechanical Engineering, Penn State; BS, Physics and Mechanical Engineering, Bogazici University, Turkey), currently a Research Assistant at the Center for Nanotechnology Education and Utilization (CNEU) at Penn State, accepted a tenure-track Assistant Professor position at Oklahoma State University’s Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department with a starting date of August 14.
Dr. Kalkan’s research interests include development and characterization of novel nanostructured materials and their application to optoelectronics, plasmonics, molecular detection/imaging, and biomedical monitoring. Oklahoma State University, committed to developing a strong materials program, invested $50M in a materials characterization facility. Dr. Kalkan was hired to serve in this program with a focus on nanoscale materials. He will be teaching a nanotechnology course this fall. Congratulations, Dr. Kalkan!
