Ellen Arruda
Ellen M. Arruda, Ph.D., is Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She received her B.S. with honors in Engineering Science and M.S. in Engineering Mechanics from the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics at The Pennsylvania State University, and her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Professor Arruda's research interests are in polymer mechanics, tissue engineering and soft tissue mechanics. She has authored over 40 journal articles. Dr. Arruda is a Past President of the Society of Engineering Science and serves as Associate Editor for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers' Journal of Applied Mechanics and Journal of Biomechanical Engineering.
