Mirna Urquidi-Macdonald
Mirna Urquidi-Macdonald, professor of engineering science and mechanics, has been elected a 2006 National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) Fellow Honor.

The honorary title of Fellow is conferred upon NACE members for "distinguished contributions in the fields of corrosion and its prevention and to develop a broadly based forum for technical and professional leaders to serve as advisors to the Association." Professor Urquidi-Macdonald's work has been cited for "major contributions to the field of corrosion and for encouraging and supporting women and minorities in the field of corrosion and sicence."

Professor Urquidi-Macdonald joined the engineering science and mechanics department in 1991. Prior to that she was a Senior Research Scientist with SRI-International in Menlo Park, California. Professor Urquidi-Macdonald has authored over 150 papers and publications and her major contribution to corrosion is as a theoretician.

Professor Urquidi-Macdonald is an adjunct professor in Material Science at Massey University, New Zealand. She holds a doctoral in Plasma Physics from faculte d'Orsay, Universite de Paris XI.

The 2006 NACE Fellow Honor will be presented at CORROSION/2006 in San Diego, California, March 12-16, 2006.
