Yanhui Zhao, a graduate student supervised by Associate Professor Dr. Tony Jun Huang in Engineering Science and Mechanics, was selected as the recipient of the Harold K. Schilling Dean’s Graduate Scholarship from the graduate school, Penn State University. The Harold K. Schilling Dean’s Graduate Scholarship recognizes outstanding graduate students who have achieved superior academic records or manifest promise of outstanding academic success and whose course of study is relevant to science, religion and ethics. This annual scholarship was created in memory of Dr. Harold K. Schilling, professor and former dean of the Graduate School.

Xiaoyun Ding
Xiaoyun Ding, graduate student in Engineering Science and Mechanics, under the advising of Professor Tony Huang, was selected by the Graduate School as the recipient of the 2013 Rustum and Della Roy Innovation in Materials Research Award in the student catagory. Xiaoyun was selected for his efforts in interdisciplinary materials research. ESM Congratulates Xiaoyun Ding on this honor!

Priyanka Dash, graduate student in Engineering Science and Mechanics under the advising of Professor Michael Lanagan, will travel to Italy in early 2013 to attend the EC1 Conference: Functional Glasses: Properties and Applications. While on travel, Priyanka will give a presentation entitled "Loco alkali glasses for high energy density applications." This EC1 conference will discuss recent advances in glass research as well as identifying the requirements that glass must satisfy for new and energy applications.
