Dr. Al Segall
Al Segall, Professor in Engineering Science and Mechanics, is to travel to Cranfield University in the United Kingdom on April 16 to attend and present at the Gun Tubes 2011 conference. This conference is aimed at defense engineers, metallurgists, scientists and designers, academics, procurement workers, serving officers, specialists and planners. The conference will cover experimental methods, modeling and design (including cost-benefit) work in the Mechanics and Materials aspects of gun tube design. Professor Sulin Zhang
Dr. Sulin Zhang, Assistant Professor in Engineering Science and Mechanics, has received a Rustum and Della Roy Innovation in Materials Research Award. This prestigious award carries an honorarium of $1,000. Sulin will be recognized on Materials Day 2011. Congratulations!

Professor Christine Masters
Dr. Christine Masters, Associate Professor in Engineering Science and Mechanics, was nominated by first year students whom she made a positive impact, transitioning them from high school to their college careers. The students feel that Dr. Masters has served them in a greater capacity outside of the classroom by being a mentor and a support system. First year students were asked to reflect on classes and interactions with faculty and they identified Chris as instrumental to their success during their first year.
