Niranjan Malvadkar (PhD, ESMCH) presented a paper titled "Spatially Organized Polymer Films Prepared by Oblique Angle Polymerization" at the American Physical Society March meeting, March 17 - 19, 2009, in Pittsburgh, PA
The Center for Innovative Sintered Products (CISP) 2009 Industrial Members’ Meeting will be held April 15-16, 2009, at the Days Inn Penn State, State College. This meeting showcases CISP's capability and is attended by refractory and hardmetals companies. CISP's world-class laboratory, faculty, and staff provide support to the sintering industrying. CISP's capabbilities include all aspects of powder processing from characterization to shape forming and sinter.

Mr. Zheng's research discoveries include inventing a high-throughput, cost-effective method to fabricate long-range ordered metal nanostructures and systematically studied their plasmonic properties; developing a temporal- and spatial-spectrophotometric technique to investigate the dynamic self-assembly process of colloidal crystals inside microfluidic channels; introducing a new concept (and possibly a future field) called plasmofluidics to the scientific community, which contributed to the development of plasmonics-based "lab-on-achip" systems for medical diagnosis, therapy, and drug discovery; and, pioneering a new class of active plasmonic materials/devices using molecular machines.
Join the ESM Department in congratulation Dr. Zheng for his outstanding success and accomplishments.

Dr. Xu has developed new programs in bioelectronics, nanophotonics and semiconductor optoelectronics to the University. He leads a multidisciplinary collaboration with Penn State's Materials Research Institute, Huck Institutes for the Life Sciences, and Electro-Optics Center that conducts research on nanophotonic and bio-nanoelectronic devices. Dr. Xu conducts groundbreaking research on quantum dots (QD) and two photon lasers.
We celebrate Dr. Xu's success and the recognition he brings to Penn State and ESM.
