Have you tried the Printer command? It works fine, and with all the=20
printers "installed" with Print Center.app (USB printers too, then.).

Hi, everybody

I wrote a small previewer program. But it has a lot of limitations.
1) You have already had teTeX based system.
2) The default path of $TEXMF$ is /usr/local/share/texmf. If your
install path was not the above path, you would have to make
   symbolic link to it.
3) You can use both PK and type 1 Computer Modern font for Mac OS
(developed by Blue Sky Research). But type 1 fonts are
   recommended.
4) The previewer has not supported printing yet.
5) You could not use slant type fonts in TEXFONTS package.
6) You have to install TXFONTS for Mac OS if you want to use TXFONTS
   package. It is available at
   ftp://macptex.appi.keio.ac.jp/pub/mac/packages/pxfonts-macfont.sit.hqx
7) You have to install Ghostscript if you want to preview DVI files
   including EPS.
8) Some color, rotation and scaling specials are supported.
9) mktexpk generates 300 dpi (cx in modes.mf) PK fonts. It is fixed.

You can get it at
http://macptex.appi.keio.ac.jp/~uchiyama/mxdvi0101.tar.gz

Any comments are welcome but I don't have enough time to improve the
program.

I'm sorry that above URL is PXFONTS. The correct URL is
ftp://macptex.appi.keio.ac.jp/pub/mac/packages/txfonts-macfont.sit.hqx

Here are screen shots of developing versions. All examples contain
Japanese characters because the program display Japanese DVI files
which is generated with pTeX developed by ASCII Corp. in Japan.

That's exactly what I did. Now, here is some additional info that I
got from the Console

=3D46or ps & eps files, I get the message
MANPATH: Undefined variable.

=3D46or dvi files, I get the message
### Skipping latex grfguide.dvi [dvi->pdf only]
### /usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current/dvips -R -u
+psfonts.map -u +pdftex.map -u +wolfram.map -o
/tmp/altpdflatex.1857/grfguide.ps grfguide.dvi
Segmentation fault
### FAILED to generate /tmp/altpdflatex.1857/grfguide.ps (139)
So, apparently, the script starts OK but dvips fails.

Any hint on how to solve the problem?

I should like to mention that the dvi & eps files are pre-MacOSX Mac =
files.

I just tested this with TeXShop 1.13 and it seemed to work at first. What I did:

1. Choose File->Open from the menu
2. navigate to an eps file
3. Select it.

That's exactly what I did. Now, here is some additional info that I got from the Console

For ps & eps files, I get the message
MANPATH: Undefined variable.

For dvi files, I get the message
### Skipping latex grfguide.dvi [dvi->pdf only]
### /usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current/dvips -R -u +psfonts.map -u +pdftex.map -u +wolfram.map  -o /tmp/altpdflatex.1857/grfguide.ps grfguide.dvi
Segmentation fault
### FAILED to generate /tmp/altpdflatex.1857/grfguide.ps (139)
So, apparently, the script starts OK but dvips fails.

Awhile back in TeXShop 1.1 I had this strange thing were having a setenv MANPATH command in my .chsrc stopped TeXShop running using ghostscript. As soon as I commented out the command it would run OK. I resolved this problem by putting the setenv MANPATH in my .login. The TeX (or distiller or whatever) that TeXShop calls may still not be immune to those kind of problems of course. TeXShop is *not* immune against changes to the environment for apps. There have been instructions out on how to do it. I strongly advise against doing that, as it may break applications that are not written in a robust manner (and none of them probably were tested against such settings). ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/comp/macosx/TeXShop-1.13d.dmg.gz for te program and ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/comp/macosx/texshopsource.tar.gz for the sources G ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: TexShop and ps files From: "Fernando Salamero" Date: Tue, 11 Dec 2001 00:55:38 +0100 I open a .ps file with TeXShop 1.13c and it's ok but the fonts looks badly.
