The company - if anyone is interested - is www.utopiatype.com.au. Note
that this package is a pre-processor to insert transitions and stuff
into a pdf document. There are other packages of this kind around
mostly free   (   http://www.miwie.org/presentations/  has a good =
collection
although its not complete). The way it works it needs a copy of distiller =
or
a copy of ghostscript to do the actual ps to pdf conversion.

Subject: mathtime
From: "Ingo Reich"
Date: Sat, 1 Dec 2001 11:25:39 +0100

Hi,

can anyone help me with the use of mathtime fonts in TeXShop (1.13) +
teTeX (under OS X.1.1)? I tried to install the mathtime fonts in the
same manner as I did (succesfully) install the Lucida Bright fonts,
i.e., I created the pfb-fonts "mtsy.pfb", "mtex.pfb" and "rmtmi.pfb"
from the type1-fonts using the t1utils included in CMacTeX and put them
into the texmf-folder in my personal library-folder (path:
ireich/library/texmf/fonts/type1/yandy/MathTime). However, when
pdftex-ing, only parts of the fonts appear as should be, namely the
Times text font greek letters etc., but not mathematical symbols like
\forall, \langle, \in etc. Maybe the follwing warning message --
concerning "wolfram.map" -- is a hint to the solution:

.........
(/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/latex/mathtime/my1mtt.fd)
(/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/latex/mathtime/my2mtt.fd)
(/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/latex/mathtime/my3mtt.fd)
(/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/latex/base/ts1cmr.fd)
(/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/latex/psnfss/ot1ptm.fd)
(/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/latex/psnfss/ts1ptm.fd) [1
Non-PDF special
ignored!{/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/dvips/config/pdftex.map}{
/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.os/dvips/config/Ttbbold.map}
Warning: /usr/local/teTeX/bin/powerpc-apple-darwin-current/pdflatex
(file wolfr
am.map): cannot open font map file
] (/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/latex/psnfss/ot1pcr.fd) [2] [3]
(/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/tex/latex/psnfss/ot1phv.fd) [4] [5]
........

Unfortunately, I know almost nothing about fonts and, thus, this message
isn't very helpful  to ME.

To my surprise the situation is even worse when I use the
TeX+Ghostscript Route; this time not even the Times text font appears
correctly on the screen.

I suppose that I simply didn't correctly install the fonts and thus
teTeX is simply not able to make any use of them, but I've got no idea
how to deal with that problem.

Thanks for your help,

Ingo

You can produce postscript output from every MacOS X App using a
"virtual" printer: in Print Center add a TCP/IP printer with address
"localhost". With this you can than save the ps-file (or pdf) via
File->Print...
(this is all explained in the Apple-Help!)
You can also do ps2epsi on this output without converting the linefeed :-)

No, because mathtime don't use wolfram=2Emap=2E

Probably the symbols font is not found=2E

if you have only mathtime 1=2E1 (not mathtime plus) you can't use the=20
mathtimes plus version my2mtt=2Efd (wich use mtsyn rather than mtsy)

try to replace the mathtime plus version by this one

%%
%% This is file `my2mtt=2Efd',
%% generated with the docstrip utility=2E

%% The original source files were:

\DeclareFontFamily{MY2}{mtt}{\skewchar\font48}
\DeclareFontShape{MY2}{mtt}{m}{n}{<->MTSY}{}
\endinput
%%
%% End of file `my2mtt=2Efd'=2E

if it doesn't work send ar complete minimal source file and the=20

There is a new intermediate bugfix release for TeXShop 1.13. This one
actually retrieves the perosnal script settings from the preferences
database.

Dear Michel,

thanks for your prompt suggestion; unfortunately this didn't solve the=20=

problem. I put your version of "my2mtt.fd" in the respective folder=20
within my personal texmf-tree and -- as the log shows -- it is used=20
instead the one in the 'original' texmf-tree. This time, however, the=20
log complained that it couldn't find the corresponding tfm-files.=20
Therefore I installed the tfm- and vi-files from OzTeX 4.0; result: no=20=

more errors, but the math-symbols do not show up when taking the=20
TeX-Ghostscript route and they are substitutet by some default font when=20=

using pdftex. Heres the log of a short tex-file using pdftex:

Hmmm=2E=2E=2E MacOSX is case sensitive, I'm afraid

Your tfm font is MTSY=2Etfm and your mapfile :

/usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf/dvips/config/pdftex=2Emap

says

mtsy        MTSY             with
