Hi

BBEdit now comes with a UNIX tool so you can launch
files by typing

mymac% bbedit test.tex

and then save them back. If you don't have write privileges
it asks for an admin password.

Seems handy if you want to get stuck into editing things like
your texmf config files etc.

Both Eudora and BBEdit run Monaco 9 pt without antialiasing and after
using them
for awhile I find that TeXShop input files look a bit `fuzzy'. Is
it possible to turn off the anti-aliasing in TeXShop input files ?

It's possible to turn off antialiasing in OS 10.1 (by default) or with
TinkerTool or similar utilities, but it messes up the font spacing.
Considering this is now an exposed feature, I have no idea why Apple
hasn't fixed this bug...

Eudora and BBEdit use QuickDraw to do font rendering so they aren't
affected by this bug (you have to use ATSUI, which Cocoa/Java use for
everything, Carbon uses only for static text in controls, with a few
exceptions - e.g. MLTE/Textension).

Hi,

Is there any way to change the default font in TeXShop ?
Helvetica really doesn't display |l|l| or !h very well. For those
using Mail and can't tell the difference it is alternating sequences
of the letter "l" and the vertical bar "|". A rather common occurrence
with table definitions.

Cheers,

Tim Lahey

From within TeXShop: menu Format, then item Font (or more simply Cmd-T),
then choose the font.

I personnally use Monaco (or any monospaced font) in both TeXShop and
Mail, as I like to be able to align items in the input for formulae
tables etc.

Cheers,

Bruno Voisin

ogus asked:
:Thanks for the news about ucontrol on OS X. How about the same thing
:on OS 9.x?

Unfortunately, OS 9- firmly has its roots in a time when Macs had
hard-wired Caps Lock keys (they'd actually stick down on most (all?) ADB
keyboards which had them) so utilities to control them were never
developed AFAIK.
